Choosing a home inspection company is an important decision for every home buyer. A thorough, pre-purchase inspection of a house can be your best defense against unwanted surprises after you move into your new home.

  The Company

Q. Are you involved with or associated with any other business?
 
A. We are not involved with any other business. In accordance with the National Association of Home Inspectors Standards of Practice, we do not participate in any referral or construction related activities. It represents a conflict of interest.

 
Q. Do you encourage the client to attend the inspection?
 
A. We not only encourage but strongly recommend buyers to attend the inspection. Buyers that attend have a better understanding of the property as viewed by the inspector and are better able to read and interpret the final report. The buyer's attendance also helps them understand the scope of a home inspection as well as the limitations.


Q. How soon can you typically schedule an inspection?
 
A. . An inspection can usually be scheduled within one or two days.
 
 
Q. How long will the inspection take?
 
A. A typical inspection of a 2400 square foot house will take roughly 3 hours.
 
 
Q. Do you carry Errors & Omissions insurance?
 
A. Yes. We are fully covered.

 

The Inspector

Q. What are your certifications?
 
A. I have been trained and certified by American Home Inspectors training institute. I have also passed the National Home Inspectors Exam and I am also licensed in Maryland for 2008. I also fulfill CEU requirements annually for NAHI.
 
 
Q. What radon training and qualifications do you have?
 
A. I have received Radon training from the Fairfax Center of Applied Science.
 
 
Q. Are you a certified member of the National Home Inspectors Association.
 
A. Yes, I belong to NAHI and follow their Standards of Practice and Code of Ethics
 
 
Q. How do you ensure radon test are accurate?
 
A. I ensure my equipment is properly calibrated and follow EPA protocol for testing. I also have a compliance form that I have the home owner sign stating they will comply with testing regulations. Also tamper resistant items are used.

 

The Report

Q. How much will the inspection cost?
 
A. Fees vary depending on size and age of the home. Specific information can be found on the services and fees page.

 
Q. What will the inspection report include?
 
A. A full inspection covers the Site/Grounds, Exterior, Structural Components, Foundation, Roof, Attic, Insulation, Ventilation, Plumbing, Electrical, Heating/AC, Garage, Kitchen, Bathrooms, and Interior.


Q. Will you prepare a written report?
 
A. Yes, we prepare an extensive written report that is 33 pages. Included is a Report Summary that will let you quickly review the recommended improvements to the home. The report format is easy to read for all parties involved in the transaction.
 

Q. How soon is the report available?
 
A. Clients receive the report at the end of the inspection.

 
Q. Can we see a sample of your report?
 
A. A sample page of the report is available by calling.
 
 
Q. Does the report conform to NAHI Standards?
 
A. Our reports not only meet but exceed the NAHI Standards of practice.
 
 
Q. How long does the Radon test take?
 
A. Radon test take a minimum of 48 hours. With my equipment I can analyze and print the report on site. No waiting for mail and lab results.
